Our History

U.S. Micro-Solutions, Inc., a full-service Environmental Microbiology Laboratory based in Latrobe, PA, has a rich history of growth and evolution since its establishment in 1996 by Herbert Layman, BS, SM, CIEC. Initially located in Jeannette, PA, and later in Greensburg, PA, the company flourished over the years, leading to its current home at 302 Unity Plaza in Latrobe.

In 2017, the reins of leadership were passed to Herb’s daughter, Deanna Kiska, Ph.D., who stepped into the role of Owner and President and guided the company toward continued success and service expansion. The legacy of excellence continued in 2024 when Kelly Faulisi, CQIA, took on the role of President, bringing new perspectives and strategies to drive growth and innovation.

Following Deanna’s retirement in December 2025, Kelly purchased U.S. Micro-Solutions in January 2026 and became Owner. Today, the company remains a privately held, woman-owned business dedicated to accuracy, innovation, and personalized service, continuing the tradition of excellence established more than three decades ago. U.S. Micro-Solutions is focused on advancing technology, strengthening client partnerships, and setting the standard for excellence in environmental microbiology testing.
